Julia (Pat) Remion Kerley

Julia “Pat” Remion Kerley, 88, died peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born on December 14, 1935, to the late Walter A. Remion and Julia Cory Remion. She was a lifelong resident of Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School in 1953 and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Pat’s life was characterized by generosity, creativity, and faith. Her passion for sewing and crafting allowed her to do good deeds for others. She loved deeply and gave generously.

Pat is survived by her children, Anthony W. Kerley, Valerie McGrath (Alvin), Julie Smith (Tim), and Timothy J. Kerley; two brothers, Michael C. Remion (Patty) and Christopher J. Remion (Kay);  12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Billy M. Kerley; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria M. and Roy O. Parker; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Marion Harkelroad; and grandson, David Allen McGrath.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. The rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ann Jacobs, GHC Hospice, and Love and Honesty Home Care for the wonderful and compassionate care Pat received in her final days.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider a donation in Pat's memory be made to Meals on Wheels of Savannah, 3025 Bull Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

Pat and I were student nurses together and became good friends back then. I was Joan Sumner then. Life took us on different paths but later we came back together.
